Israel & Ivrit: an unbreakable bond

Phoenix Hebrew Academy proudly emphasizes our people's unbreakable bond with our eternal homeland — and celebrates the miraculous nature of its rebirth in modern times.

A two-pronged approach

Learning the language. Loving the land.

Conversational Ivrit, preschool to graduation

Our students begin to learn conversational Hebrew from the youngest ages of Early Childhood and continue straight through graduation — led by our Director of Jewish Life & Ivrit and our Preschool Hebrew Specialist.

Israel programming all year long

Students develop an appreciation for the IDF and its soldiers, personal relationships with individual soldiers, a clear understanding of the land's geography and topography, and the importance of standing as one with our Israeli brethren.

Bat Ami

Two young women from Israel, part of our school all year

Each year PHA hosts two young women from Israel through Bat Ami, which places Israelis doing שירות לאומי (Sherut Leumi, national service) in Jewish communities around the world.

They spend the year within our school community, sharing their love of Israel, its history and its culture, and giving our students a personal connection to the people of Israel.

Review note: Add this year's Bat Ami volunteers: first names and a photo, with permission. A short welcome from them each fall would also make a great news post.

Yom Ha'atzmaut

A celebration the whole family joins

Each year, students come together with parents, grandparents and friends for a very special Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration in our auditorium — after pausing together for Yom HaZikaron.

And the connection doesn't end at 8th grade: many PHA graduates go on to spend at least a year of study in Israel.
