Torah learning that lasts a lifetime

At PHA, Jewish life isn't a class period — it's the rhythm of the day, the week and the year. Children learn to read, daven, ask, and love being Jewish.

The learning journey

From Aleph-Bet to Gemara, step by step

Each stage builds on the last, with skills and love of learning growing together.

  1. Preschool

Aleph-Bet, brachot, Shabbat and the chagim through song, stories and play — with a dedicated Preschool Hebrew Specialist.

  2. K–3

Fluent, accurate kriah — the foundation of all Torah study — plus Chumash skills with Lehavin U'lehaskil, tefillah and Parsha.

  3. 4–5

Navi and Mishna begin, alongside Chumash, Halacha, the chagim and conversational Ivrit.

  4. 6–8

Gemara for boys and in-depth Yahadut for girls with Living Lessons; every Judaic subject grows in scope and skill.

Tefillah

Davening with love and meaning

We seek to infuse our students' davening with love and feeling, as well as an understanding of the meaning of the tefillot.

Alongside the words, students learn why we pray, what we're asking for, and how tefillah connects us to Hashem and to each other.

Kriah comes first. A huge emphasis is placed on the fluency and accuracy of Hebrew reading — and our Kriah Specialist works with students to make sure no child falls behind.

A year of celebrations

The Jewish calendar, lived together

Our Student Council plans a special event for every Rosh Chodesh, themed to the Jewish calendar — and the whole school comes together for each chag.
